MAIDSTONE DOWNS QUILTING SERVICE

It is our belief that the style of quilting used on a quilt should reflect the fabrics used in the quilt and enhance the designe used in piecing the top. The patchwork should be the focus of your top and the quilting should be used to bring your quilt alive.
The examples below are quilts with different styles of quilting on a variety of different fabric choises and piecing methods:


This Antique Rose quilt has been quilted using the interlocked continuous line method of quilting.
This Oriental example is of custom hand drawn quilting, block work and the embroidery has been stippled around to accsentuate its detail.
A cream on cream quilt made with quilters muslin and old doilies and laces from my Great Grandmother, Grandmother and mothers sewing scraps which has had each block quilted individually to emphasize the antique look. With heavy detailed borders.
Outer Border has been stippled around the detail in the print whilt heavy freehand drawing around the stars instead of stipple has been used and a light blockwork design in each star to allow the stars to stand out.
This Australian quilt has been quilted with freehand drawings of australian native flora and all the brumbies and native animals have been freehand outlined to help emphasise them.
Oriental windows quilt which has freehand contrast quilting on the borders and each window has been stitched in the ditch and the design on the fabric freehand outlined.
Rose of Sharon Quilt - This quilt features aplique which has been stippled around to emphasise the applique with a freehand feather border.
On this simple Log Cabbin design I have used a spaced continuous design method of quilting.
This quilt has been stippled all over in very fine black and using thick contrasting thread quilted with using an embroidery technique to add a different type of tecture and more elaborate look.
